We had a wonderful visit home to see family and friends. The day after arriving I headed to Olympia to visit mom. We were able to see her three more times before heading back to Colombia. She is doing well, or at least as well as can be expected for an older person who has had two falls in the last year. We are very grateful to the staff at Brooks Blessings who are taking excellent care of mom. I am also grateful to my siblings, Janet and Tom, for all they do for mom.
We also got to spend quality time with our grandson, Henry. He stayed at our house for four nights while Kirsten and Randy went on a relaxing vacation to Mexico. We went to the playground, played in the yard, played with Hot Wheels, read books, and went birdwatching. He is an active little tyke, exploring every corner of our home. He found my guitar, so we had to play guitar together. Love that kid!
We spent a couple days with Zach and Jenna, their friends, and Jenna's family in Bend over one weekend. So good to see them! Had a wonderful dinner at Nick and Babette's cabin in Sunriver. And I got to go skiing with Zach and his friends at Mt. Bachelor. I also managed to ski a day at Mt. Hood Meadows earlier during the trip home. It was so fun to go skiing. I love mountains and I love snow. Two days skiing ths year at two resorts (compared to 70 days at 36 resorts last year). Made me decide to spend more time in Chile and Argentina in August and September to go skiing.
Another highlight of the trip was spending time with friends. Jeff and Liz flew up from the Bay Area to spend the weekend with us. Along with Ken and Dana, we drank a lot of excellent wine and ate a lot of delicious food. We went to the spring wine tasting event at the Yamhill-Carlton AVA, and then went and enjoyed some wine at Ken and Dana's house. The next day we gathered at our house and had a great spaghetti dinner and enjoyed more wine. Before taking Jeff and Liz to the airport on Monday, we went for a nice hike at Marys Peak and lunch at Squirrels. So great to spend time with such good friends.
So nice to be home in the springtime with all the flowers and wonderful weather.
